Operational Resilience in Finance

As the past few decades have shown, operational disruptions in the financial sector are inevitable. A disruption could be caused by a key IT system outage, extreme weather conditions, or even a global pandemic. Whatever the cause of disruptions, they can happen at the most inopportune times.

Operational resilience is the ability of firms and the financial sector to prevent, adapt, respond to, recover, and learn from operational disruptions.

In this course, you will learn about the key disciplines that support a firm’s resilience: business continuity, incident management, and how regulations support these activities.

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate an understanding of incident management and business continuity
  • Understand operational resilience regulations and the reasons for their introduction
  • Demonstrate an understanding of key regulatory concepts, such as important business services (IBS), impact tolerances (IToL) and scenario testing
  • Define who can be impacted by operational disruptions
  • Show awareness of how firms can communicate during operational disruptions
  • Understand the benefits of operational resilience
