Health and Safety in Manufacturing

Manufacturing workplaces are busy, fast-moving environments with a range of hazards. Whether you’re operating machinery, moving materials or working alongside vehicles, knowing how to recognise risks and follow safe ways of working helps protect you and those around you.

Learning Objectives

Identify common manufacturing hazards and the controls used to reduce risk
Recognise safety signs and workplace controls, and the actions to take if they’re missing, damaged or bypassed
Demonstrate safe working practices by using personal protective equipment (PPE), handling loads safely and following workplace procedures
Report hazards, near misses and accidents, and respond appropriately in an emergency
Recognise when work is unsafe and when to stop, seek help or raise a concern
Describe the health and safety responsibilities of employers and employees
